A Year in Review and Organization

3 02 2009

Here are two resources that should be interesting and useful.

Copus: A Year of Science 2009
COPUS, Coalition on the Public Understanding of Science, is dedicating this year to increasing the public’s understanding of science. There are a lot of great resources on this site. There are a lot of great organizations that are involved in this coalition and movement.

labmeeting
Here is a free, secure, online repository for storing and sharing information, pdfs, etc. It looks like a good platform for managing citations and papers. And, hey, who can’t use a little help on the organization front? If anyone uses this, please let me know. I’d like to get feedback on this.

Have a great week.

Nature Online Streaming Video Archive

10 08 2008

The journal Nature has a small, but growing online streaming video archive. Videos complement some articles or letters from the journal. Online videos are free to use. Many different topics. Check it out here.

Online Learning Objects

10 08 2008

The Wisconsin Online Resource Center (Wisc-Online) has over 2000 online learning objects in there database that instructors can embed in their websites and lessons. More are being added. Note that this database requires registration to use and covers a wide range of topics. A good place to get some learning objects or find some inspiration for creating learning objects of your own.

If you would like online modules, tutorials or learning objects created for your class, or would like some help getting started, please contact me at library. I’d be happy to help.
